Coach Garver graduated from Plano Senior High School in 2000 and throughout his years in Plano he played baseball, basketball, and football.
After graduating he attended Texas Tech University and then ultimately graduated from the University of North Texas in 2006 with a B.S. in Kinesiology. After graduating he returned to Plano where he coached at Plano West Senior High for 7 years and at his alma mater Plano Senior High for 3 years.
This will be his 3rd full season as the head coach for the Vista Ridge Rangers and his 4th year in the program serving as an assistant coach for Coach Bourgeois. In his first full season the Rangers ended up tied for 4th place in the district and lost a play in game to make it into the playoffs. Coach Garver and his staff were selected to be the coaching staff in the AABCA All Star Game at Dell Diamond this past summer. Looking to build on last year
Coach Garver and his staff are locked in on making it to the 2020 6A Texas High School Playoffs. Coach Garver has been married for 8 years going on 9 with wife Moriah and they have twin 4-year-old boys Maxton and McCoy.
Coach Garver’s mission is to provide the best possible environment in which to excel daily in the class room and on the field, and to use the game of baseball as a tool to educate, promote, and instill the qualities necessary to succeed in the game of life.
This program is about making these players not only better athletes but better members of society. Coach Garver has a passion for building relationships with these players and being able to watch them grow as adults.
3-year Varsity Letterman at Westwood High School. State semifinalist in 2003. Played college at Angelina Junior college, Oklahoma State University, and Lamar University. Coaching stops include Florence High School and Westwood High School. Wife Annika and three children 10 Brayden, 8 Raelyn, and 6 Camdyn.
Hello, my name is Cary McSwain. This is my second year at Vista Ridge and my eleventh year in education. I will be teaching World Geography and coaching football and baseball. I am originally from the DWF area and graduated from Crandall High School in 2007. I attended Angelo State University where I graduated in 2012 with my bachelors degree in History and minor in Kinesiology. I also attended Concordia University where I graduated in 2021 with my masters degree in Education in Coaching and Sports Administration. I am excited to be here and looking forward to teaching this class!
